It was only a few short months ago that I scratched together a quick post about the new brew pub coming to the Highlands. Recently I was able to meet with Matt Fuller and Vince Cain to grab a sneak peak at their new brewery, Great Flood Brewing Co, located at 2120 Bardstown Rd between North End Cafe and the Twig and Leaf Restaurant, and I must say that it is coming along very nicely!
Formerly a flower shop, the space has now been completely transformed and looks awesome. Together with the help of family; Cain, Fuller, and third partner, Zach Barnes, have painstakingly created a warm atmosphere for sipping cold beers. The abundant woodwork is amazing. There are built-in tables along the walls, a large center gathering island, and a gorgeous bar, all hand crafted. Some of the tables are already stained and they remind me of a rich, Brazilian Cherry. The polished concrete floor contrasts 
nicely against the dark wood, and the guys are bringing other design elements into the brewery like the iron and brick fence that will separate the patrons from the main brewing station. Although there are some finishing touches to be completed, Cain seems confident that Great Flood Brewing Co will be open by the end of March. As far as licensing goes, the local and federal governments have approved Great Flood, and now everything goes to the state. Once the state government gives their blessing, the guys will be able to start brewing on the premises, and then it’s time for everyone to taste!
Great Flood Brewing Co will offer eight different home brews on draft at all times. They are offered in 10, 12, and 16 oz glasses, as well as 5 oz tasting flights. Balancing the supply and demand in the beginning will be part of the learning curve, so Vince said that they might have a couple of other beers on 
hand in case the masses drink all of the home brewed inventory. He also mentioned that they were tossing around ideas for a few cold snacks like beer cheese, however he reiterated that they are not trying to open a restaurant. They will focus on brewing. The finished product will be a sight to see, and I can’t wait to taste some of their creations. Stay tuned for a final update!
