Local real estate investment, development, and management firm, Poe Companies, seems to be incredibly busy these days. Poe has done a vast majority of the Marriott projects around Louisville including the downtown Marriott. They have completed a number of professional office plazas and residential developments throughout Louisville. Poe Companies has also recently finished phase I of the apartments at River Park Place, announced their vision to build aLoft Hotel in the fast-growing NuLu district, and have now begun two different residential projects in the Highlands. I’m fairly certain that there are plenty of projects I’m unaware of as well, but in looking through Steve Poe’s portfolio, you can’t help but be excited to see the finished product on all of his developments!
Dundee Place | 2241 Dundee Rd

Dundee Place is located at the corner of Dundee and Yale in the Highlands, right on the Douglass Loop. The project is supposed to be finished in May and includes 20 different units in a three-story building. There are five different one-bedroom floor plans (starting at $810/mo), and two different two-bedrooms floor plans (starting at $1,477/mo). All the units at Dundee Place have an open layout, granite counter tops, vessel sinks, in-unit laundry, and many of them have walkout patios. I remember seeing the notices posted last year for the demolition of the homes that used to sit on the same corner. If you drive by now, you can see that they are moving right along and I believe they are currently pre-leasing.
The Woods at Lexington Road | 2125 Lexington Rd
Months ago I was driving along Lexington Rd near August Moon and noticed a large area of trees had been cleared. I didn’t think much of it at the time because I know how these things go. Driving by again a few days ago, the large clearing now contains a massive crane and a concrete foundation. Construction is obviously underway now for Poe’s much larger project, The Woods at Lexington Road. While this is technically an Irish Hill/Crescent Hill apartment community, it’s right on the edge of the Highlands, and in the eyes of this Realtor holds a lot of the same value that true Highlands locations hold. The fifteen different floor plans range from 416 sq ft studio (starting at $660/mo) all the way up to a 3-bedroom unit with over 1,750 sq ft (starting at $2,200/mo). Many of the apartments have a walkout balcony, and considering the location on Beargrass Creek, I would say some excellent views are in store! The timeline for completion is unclear at this point, but check back for updates.
