Belknap Fall Festival Begins Friday

The Belknap Fall Festival ushers in a new season. It brings us Highlanders together for a sort of “goodbye” to the warm weather, and a “hello” to the amazing fall colors. This year marks the 20th annual Belknap Fall Festival, which takes place on Friday, October 10th from 6 pm – 11 pm, and Saturday, October 11th from 11 am – 11 pm. It’s actually a fundraiser for the Belknap neighborhood, and requires quite a few community volunteers from around the area in order to make it happen. Proceeds go to support beautification projects, cleanup, and other community projects. Here’s what you can expect:

The Douglass Loop has quite a few delicious restaurants, most of whom participate in the Belknap Fall Festival in some way or another, so come hungry. With no shortage of food, there must be beverages, right? Right. Beer and wine, as well as soft drinks will be served throughout the festival.

Bring the kids to the Douglass Loop to enjoy special arts and craft activities, and other fun that is designed for children. There’s also a ton of live music from nine different local bands. This year, enjoy tunes from Brigid Kaelin, Mickey Clark, Small Time Napoleon, The Deloreans, and many other local favorites. You can see the full band schedule here.

The Belknap Fall Festival has around a hundred different booths from local artists and artisans. You will find woodwork, jewelry, paintings, photos, clothing, and all sorts of interesting trinkets for you or for someone else. I actually use this amazing Highlands event as an opportunity to begin my Christmas shopping.

As always, we are the Highlands. We are a friendly, eclectic group of people. Highlands events promote fellowship with others and a sense of community, and let’s be honest, we can always use a little encouragement these days. So, if nothing else, come on out for a bit and just enjoy the community that takes place at the Belknap Fall Festival.

Whatever you might be doing this weekend, I encourage you to carve out a little time for the Belknap Fall Festival at the Douglass Loop. Friday and Saturday, October 10 and 11.
