Variety is a good thing. As I have said before, variety in a restaurant is absolutely necessary to keep your patrons interested and happy. Of course, there’s a fine line that Louisville chefs and restaurant owners walk when they decide to revamp a menu. You have to mix it up, but you don’t want to cause any riots by removing everyone’s favorite menu item. It’s not an easy task. As a chef and restaurant owner you have to act in the best interest of the business, and that often times means that a few people will get ticked off so that the rest of the world will be happy. These decisions are based on consumer feedback as well as statistics and sales data. Following suit nicely in line with the seasonal change, here are a few Louisville restaurants that have recently changed their menus.
Louvino | Highlands
This new hot spot is only months old, yet they clearly understand that a rotating menu is a necessity. A fantastic place to drink delicious wine and munch on creative small plates, Louvino just dropped their second menu on us. A few notable additions: Lamb Loin Chop with truffle mushroom risotto and demi-glace; braised short rib gruyere mac and cheese; scallop scampi with roasted tomatoes, garlic, sherry, capellini, parmesan; and the wild mushroom truffle risotto with haricot verts and gruyere.
Cafe Lou Lou | Highlands, St Matthews
Generally switching up the menu once or twice a year, Cafe Lou Lou, with two locations, recently introduced their seasonal adaptations. One of these menu changes replaced one of my favorite sandwiches in Louisville, but I have to admit that this is one of my favorite Cafe Lou Lou menus ever. Replacing my pork tenderloin sandwich with the smoked brisket sandwich was perfect. That thing is topped with homemade bleu cheese coleslaw! Cafe Lou Lou also added the cheeseburger po’ boy with an amazing blend of sausage and ground beef, and a mind-blowing sweet and spicy relish; the lyonnaise roll with roasted rosemary fingerling potatoes, fried eggs, bacon, mixed greens, and champagne Dijon vinaigrette; the drunken mussels appetizer; and the amazing gumbo. Asiatique | Highlands
It happened back in the summer, but I am just now getting a chance to mention it: Asiatique decided it had been too long since they changed their menu last, so they rolled out a bit of a new concept with their new menu. New additions to Asiatique’s concept would include the large, improved, small-plate menu, as well as the new section including a few noodle dishes, and sandwiches. Of course you can still get an incredible, full-sized entree at this Highlands restaurant, but it would be in your best interest to try some of the new items.
These are just a few of my favorite new menus. It is certainly the time of year when you might see a few new items pop up on your favorite Louisville menu, so give them a try!
