It’s April! Yay! We can quit worrying about snow storms and start worrying about torrential downpours flooding our city. It’s also my birth month, but that’s beside the point. It’s time for The Kentucky Derby Festival and all the events that come with it. Most importantly to us Highlanders, The Cherokee Triangle Art Fair is right around the corner!
THE ART FAIR DETAILS
This year marks the 44th annual Cherokee Triangle Art Fair, and it will take place on Saturday April 25th, and Sunday April 26th. If you’ve never been, it’s such a wonderful time to enjoy the weather, fellowship with neighbors, and buy super cool stuff! This juried art fair has more than 200 booths, food, drink, and fun for everyone. The Cherokee Triangle Art Fair always lands on the weekend before the Kentucky Derby, and it takes over the entire stretch of Cherokee Parkway between the Castleman Statue and Willow Avenue in the historic Cherokee Triangle.
Street parking is available all over the neighborhood, and if the weather is nice, you will be walking a few blocks. Wear comfortable shoes and throw an umbrella in the car in case of April showers. Wheels and pets are not allowed in the Cherokee Triangle Art Fair area. No skates or skateboards. Bikes can be walked, but not ridden once inside the fair area, and they ask you to leave your pets at home. In my opinion, your best bet for driving and parking can be found on the map below. Remember that the food and beverage service at The Cherokee Triangle Art Fair runs until 8:00 pm Saturday, which is later than Sunday. Check back for the official 2015 brochure which will feature all the artists for this year, and show you where their booths will be located. You can also follow the Cherokee Triangle Art Fair Facebook page.
