Bardstown Bound Beer Tour

The 12th annual Bardstown Bound will take place on May 16th, and this year it is focussed on craft beer. Each year, Bardstown Bound kicks off the Summer season with some sort of themed jamboree to get the neighbors together and enjoy the weather. This year a craft beer tour has been added to the existing Valu Market beer festival. The finest restaurants and pubs in the city open their doors and participate in this annual Highlands favorite. Here are a few highlights:

BEER BUS TOUR

OSheasBeersA bus tour beginning and ending at Valu Market on Bardstown Rd will take you on a beer tasting journey as you travel to locations around the area. These locations include: Dragon King’s Daughter, O’Shea’s Irish Pub, Flat 12 Bierwerks (southern indiana), Buckhead’s Mountain Grill, and Gordon Biersch. Arrive at Valu Market at 12:30 pm and be ready to board the bus at 1:00 pm and return around 4:30 pm. The cost is $25 per person when you purchase a ticket in advance via paypal. Tickets are $35 per person on the day of the event, and they will only be accepting CASH then. A ticket includes a keepsake growler, a Valu Market Beer Festival wristband, road trip sandwiches by Chef Ellen Gill McCarty of Science Hill, and a growler fill-up before you leave. A portion of the bus ride proceeds will benefit Apron Inc.

VALU MARKET BEER FESTIVAL

As in years past, the Valu Market Beer Festival will take place in the side parking lot at Mid City Mall near the Back Door between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Over 200 beers are available for tasting, and there will be food available from the Back Door (hint: get their wings!) There is plenty of time to enjoy this part of the event when you return from the beer bus tour. A portion of the Beer Festival proceeds will benefit the Bluegrass Center for Autism.
