Bardstown Bound Beer Tour

The 12th annual Bardstown Bound will take place on May 16th, and this year it is focussed on craft beer. Each year, Bardstown Bound kicks off the Summer season with some sort of themed jamboree to get the neighbors together and enjoy the weather. This year a craft beer tour has been added to the existing Valu Market beer festival. The finest restaurants and pubs in the city open their doors and participate in this annual Highlands favorite. “Rump Fest” – Highland Ave Block Party Coming Soon

This time of year in Louisville always brings out the party in everyone. The Highlands alone typically has 30 or 40 different events that take place between the first day of Spring and the first day of Summer, and it’s common for Louisville residents to want to break loose when the weather changes from suck to awesome. How Many Tables? That Would Be 10 Tables

Ten TablesWith somewhere around ten new independent Louisville restaurants opening in the last 6-12 months, our “foodie” (I hate that word) scene is expanding at an incredible rate. Some questions have been posed as to whether or not these chefs and restauranteurs will have equal shares in this market, or if some of these places might flicker out. I can confidently say that after personally eating at seven of these ten restaurants, I just don’t see any of them getting taken out by another. The list of new Louisville restaurants is diverse, and the competition, in my eyes, is not really competition at all. If you produce a great product, you will have repeat customers and market share no matter how many restaurants there are. A new art gallery is opening in the Highlands, and their grand opening celebration, “Naughty or Nice”, is happening on the same night as Bardstown Road Aglow. Bardstown Road Aglow 2014

BRAglow2014It’s one of our favorite events of the entire year, and one of the best Holiday events that Louisville has to offer. The 29th Annual Bardstown Road Aglow will take place this Saturday, December 6th, 2014 between 5:00pm and 10:00pm. Take the trolley, watch the lighting of the tree at Grinstead and Bardstown, visit participating shops, restaurant, and pubs for great deals, and even enter the ugly Christmas sweater contest!

The Christmas tree lighting at Wendy’s on the corner of Bardstown Rd and Grinstead Dr will begin around 5:45 pm, and typically kicks off the Bardstown Road Aglow event every year. Bring the whole family and get primed for the season! Continue reading “Bardstown Road Aglow 2014”

Belknap Fall Festival Begins Friday

The Belknap Fall Festival ushers in a new season. It brings us Highlanders together for a sort of “goodbye” to the warm weather, and a “hello” to the amazing fall colors. This year marks the 20th annual Belknap Fall Festival, which takes place on Friday, October 10th from 6 pm – 11 pm, and Saturday, October 11th from 11 am – 11 pm. It’s actually a fundraiser for the Belknap neighborhood, and requires quite a few community volunteers from around the area in order to make it happen. Bardstown Bound – 11th Annual Boo Fest

October is full of awesome in Louisville, and especially in the Highlands. Not only do we get to see the amazing fall colors, but there are more festivals and events than you can count!
